Census references for Catherine Bowles in Embro Village
Note: the census states she is married but John is not listed.

Alexander and Mary Bowles of Esquesing, Halton co. also lived in Woodstock in 1858 when their daughter, Margaret, married John Foulston of Norwich but they moved on to Brantford by 1862.  See The Bowles of Halton Co. for more on this family.  Perhaps they were John Bowles parents??

William Campbell Bowles of Montreal married Margaret Shedden on June 3, 1903 in Woodstock.  He worked as a freight agent for the CPR  in Calgary, Winnipeg and in B.C.  See The Bowles of Montreal for more on this family.

Also in Woodstock
Flavius J. Bowles of Chicago married Florence Elmore of New Orleans on Dec. 13, 1871 at Woodstock, Oxford co. ref. Later they moved to Manitoba where Flavius developed a building contracting business after which they moved on to settle in Leesburg, Virginia.  See the Major Flavius Bowles page for more on this family.
Note: Woodstock was a rather small place.  What was the connection between the U.S. Bowles and John and Catherine Bowles for the wedding to take place there?

Why did so many individual Bowles from different areas all go to a small town like Woodstock to marry?  What was the connection?
