The Bowles of Canada and their Roots in Ireland and England

Sherbrooke South

A set of Boles siblings emigrated from Ireland to Canada and settled in Lanark county.

The earliest record is  of Marjory Boles marrying David Milliken in Perth in 1832.

Her brother, Robert Boles and his wife Joanna Hannolin settled first near Brockville about 1833 where they raised a family but then moved on to settle Con. 9 Lot 19 just east of Maberley, Sherbrooke South about 1845.

It's not known when their brother, Matthew, arrived in Lanark county but he married Susan Johnston at Perth in 1841.  He also homesteaded nearby at Con. 9 Lot 22 east of Maberley.

There may also have been two other Boles sisters who also married in Lanark county in the 1830's, Mary Anne (m. John Armstrong) and Jane (m. William Latimer).

It's not known whether their father accompanied them to Canada but their widowed mother, Sarah Boles, lived with Robert according to the 1851 census of Lanark co.
