Miscellaneous Other Bowles records Alexander Boles and wife Mary Derick moved from Halton county to Brampton, Ont. about 1860 with their family. One son Robert James m. Mary Stewart Feb. 4, 1862 in Brampton. Despite the Boles spelling, Brampton is only about 15 miles from where the descendants of George Bowles settled near Sandhill so there may be a relationship. The 1881 Census of Cardwell town in nearby Caledon twp. includes an Elizabeth Bowles (married but husband not listed) with children Sophia, Robert and James (age 1) CensusWilliam Joseph Bowles of Oxfordshire, England came to Brampton after 1901 and was working as a bricklayer at the time of his marriage to Emma Haydon in Brampton in 1905.
