Other Bowles in Quebec CitySome other Bowles references in Quebec City which have not yet been connected to my direct ancestors: John Bowles, labourer m. Jane 1. Eliza b. 1826 d. Aug. 19, bur 20, 1832 Metropolitan Ch., Quebec City2. Samuel bur. Aug. 28, 1832 Metropolitan Ch., Quebec City John Bowles b. 1790 Ireland, d. of cholera, bur. Aug. 18, 1832 St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Quebec City This would probably be the above John Bowles dying the same week as his children. Only the funeral attendants signed as witnesses which was common even with close family during the cholera epidemic of 1832. Often one mass service was conducted for many deceased and then they were just listed sequentially in the registry. There is also a John Bowles, milkman, listed in the 1852 Quebec City Directory. John Bowles m. Anne Lawler Apr. 13, 1847 St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Quebec City Charles Bowles, Master of the Brig Agnes, age 45 years bur. June 22, 1832, Metropolitan Ch., Quebec City. This was during a major cholera epidemic in Quebec and Ireland. He was probably from Limerick as the Carlow Morning Post of Monday, May 26, 1828, page 4, column 4 reported "The Agnes of Limerick, sailed from hence on Wednesday for Quebec and Montreal with one hundred and sixty emigrants, men, women and children."
