There is one very early possible link in that Edward Cooper of Newtown, co. Carlow, the landlord of my Bowles of Ballickmoyler, co. Laois by the 1740's, originally acquired that townland from Richard Saunders of Saunders Court, co. Wexford in 1714.  There are even earlier references for the Coopers of county Carlow's connections to Wexford which might imply an early connection for my Bowles as well.

The close association of the Boles (of Carlow and Tipperary) and the Watsons, an allied family of the Coopers, is seen in the following memorial as well as a direct sign of an early Boles connection to Wexford.  This close association between this Boles line and the Coopers and Watsons in county Carlow indicates that they may be the origin of my Bowles line:

#9200 vol. 17, p. 389  July 23, 1713 James Dawson (possibly Danson) to John Boles

James Dawson of Ballynacourse, co. Tipperary, Esq. of the first part; John Boles Mogorban, co. Tipperary, gent., of the second part; and James Lees of Cashelle third part; that the Governor and Company for making Hollow Sword Blades in England by lease dated Apr. 14, 1708 demise to Thomas Cuppage of Lambstown, co, Wexford the town and lands of Clonbrogan (205 acres), Foulkstowne (250 acres), Bofanna (373 acres) and Currascarteen (16 acres) in the Barony of Middlethird, co. Tipperary; during lives of Solomon Watson, eldest son of John Watson of Ballymoran in King’s county, John Boles youngest son of John Boles party to the lease, Phebe Boles, youngest daughter of the said John Boles at a yearly rent of 100£.  That the lease was made unto Thomas Cuppage in trust only for the said John Boles and the said Company has since conveyed their interest in the said premises to James Dawson and that the said Phebe Boles was now dead.  James Dawson in consideration of 50£ paid to him by John Boles do let unto John Boles the aforesaid lands and premises for the lives of Soloman Watson, John Boles son of John Boles and William Watson, brother to Solomon Watson.

The first concrete Bowles connection to Wexford is in 1734 when John Bowles of England and Thomas Bowles (his son or brother?) of the Town of Wexford, Gent. lease some land in St. Iberius parish to Elizabeth Mullow of Woodstowne, co. Wexford:   (this John Bowles may be the son of Thomas Bowles of Dublin; if so this Thomas would have been his son)

The following memorial refers to William Bowles of Wingfield on the far north edge of Wexford leasing some land in Ballickmoyler, Queens county right beside my own direct ancestor John Bowles.
