Forty Hall, Enfield
Forty Hall, Enfield was built in 1632 by Nicholas Rainton, the Lord Mayor of the City of London, and was passed through a succession of families until it was purchased by Henry Carrington Bowles (III) for his son Henry Ferryman Bowles in 1895. The Bowles family sold it to the Enfield Urban District Council in 1951 and it was opened as a museum.
